Stayokay Amsterdam Vondelpark - Top Location

The lovely and modern Stayokay hostel is located right next to one of Amsterdam's most beautiful parks - the Vondelpark.

Stayokay Hostel Amsterdam Vondelpark

The location of this hostel is almost perfect. Beautifully quiet, hardly any traffic and only 5 minutes walk to top sights such as the Leidseplein or the Rijksmuseum.

Tip - Take the tram to the city centre

Trams 1, 2 and 5 take you from Leidseplein directly to Dam Square or the main station within a few minutes.

The rooms are relatively small but functionally furnished. Stayokay has dormitories, double rooms, 4-bed-rooms and 6-bed-rooms with private bathrooms - great for families and groups!

Generator Hostel Amsterdam - Awesome Design

This designer hostel is really something special. The old building of the University of Amsterdam has been lovingly renovated. Various artists have left their mark on the modern rooms. The old lecture hall is now a cool lounge.

Generator Hostel Amsterdam

The location of the Generator, directly in the Oosterpark, is fantastic. Around the corner is the trendy district of De Pijp. However, it is a little further to the city center. With the tram, it'll take you about 15 minutes. It takes about 30 minutes by foot.

Tip - Four-bed rooms for scrimpers

The 4-bed-rooms at the Generator are perfect for 2 couples, families or a 4-person gang. You can spend the night in a stylish hostel and save money at the same time.

The Generator Hostel Amsterdam is still quite new, and the equipment leaves nothing to be desired: Café, bike rental, free Wi-Fi, restaurant, bar, lounge and much more.

Just 5 minutes from the train station, Flying Pig is one of Amsterdam's most popular backpacker hostels. Perfect if you want to have fun and meet new people.

The Flying Pig Hostel Amsterdam

The Flying Pig team is super nice and happy to help with tips, maps, and information about Amsterdam.

A simple breakfast, free Wi-Fi, bed linen and a locker for your valuables (you have to bring your own lock) are included. There is also a pool table and a well-attended bar.

A bunk bed in the large dormitory is available from €29. There is another branch next to the Flying Pig Downtown: Flying Pig Uptown (at the Vondelpark) - also very recommendable.

Hans Brinker Amsterdam - Hostel or Prison Cell?

A hostel for real backpackers and individual travelers without money and demands. Steel bunk beds and an old locker.

The rooms at the Brinker are clean, but they remind of prison cells. Nevertheless, we would like to recommend this hostel - the reason: Perfect location and excellent value for money.

On the positive side, every room has its own bathroom. In many other hostels of this price class, there are often only shared bathrooms. A delicious breakfast is included in the price. Bread, cereals, pancakes - really neat for a hostel in this price range!

The Brinker has 500 beds, its own club, bar, and a 24-hour reception. You have the choice between a mixed 4-, 5-, 6- and 8-bed-room or a private 3-bed or double room. An overnight stay starts at 25€.

Clink Noord Hostel - First Choice in the North

The Clink Noord Hostel is still quite new and beautifully furnished. Even better is the location in one of the coolest parts of Amsterdam.

Clink Noord Hostel Hostel Amsterdam

We think Amsterdam Noord is so great because it is very close to the city center. The hostel is practically opposite the main station, only separated by the big river "IJ". The free ferry takes you to the other side in only five minutes (here is the timetable).

Beautiful common areas, a café, a bar and a common kitchen – the building from the 1920s was extensively transformed into a modern hostel with a lot of Amsterdam style.

The rooms are not huge, but just right for a few nights. A delicious breakfast is included in the price. The bar serves a dish of the day and various snacks such as pizza and burgers.

The Clink Noord is very cheap compared to other hostels. A bunk bed is available from €25. A double room is available from 85€. A four-bed-room starts at 146€.

Bob’s Youth Hostel - Cheap and International

Bob founded his youth hostel more than 30 years ago. He wanted to create a place where young people could spend the night for a little money. A complete success! Today Bobs Youth Hostel is a popular meeting place for backpackers from all over the world - thank you, Bob!

Bobs Youth Hostel Amsterdam

Admittedly, there are cleaner accommodations in Amsterdam. Sleeping in a 16-person dormitory is not everyone's cup of tea either. In a nutshell: This hostel is shabby but cheap - just right to spend a long weekend in Amsterdam with a few friends.

We really like the many works of art on the walls - Bob´s Youth Hostel is a street art gallery with works by guests and artists from Amsterdam. Also, the location, only 5 minutes from the main station, is simply great. At night you can walk back to the hostel and enjoy a drink at the bar.

A 4-bed room with its own bathroom costs around 160€. A bed in the dormitory is available from 35€.

WOW Hostel Amsterdam - Unbeatable Price

The design and equipment make the WOW Hostel one of the coolest hostels in Amsterdam. Finest country hostel feeling, fair prices, and clean rooms.

Wow Hostel Amsterdam

A small disadvantage is the location in Bos en Lommer, just outside the city center. By tram, it takes about 20 minutes to get to the city center. The nearest stop is 5 minutes from the hostel.

Our tip: Make the most of it and discover the other side of Amsterdam, outside the turbulent city center.

Each floor is designed in its own color, which is really beautiful. The rooms are large and bright. Very important: There is functioning Wi-Fi on every floor (this is not a standard in Amsterdam).

The WOW Hostel team is super friendly and dedicated. A simple breakfast is included in the price. The prices are really unbeatable. A family room (for 6 persons) starts at 120€. You can get a bed in a mixed dormitory for a sensational 18€.

Shelter Jordaan - The Most Beautiful Part of the City

The Shelter Jordan must be one of the most beautiful youth hostels in Europe - at least in terms of its location, in the middle of the picturesque Jordaan district of Amsterdam.

Peaceful, clean and affordable. A good choice if you travel with your family and aren't in Amsterdam to party. Shelter Jordaan is a Christian hostel. Alcohol and other drugs are strictly forbidden, so the danger of being woken up by drunken kids at 3 am is rather low.

Most of the staff volunteers at the Shelter Jordaan and are incredibly friendly - Christian charity. You can get a bed in the dormitory for as little as €35.
